Comment: Worst cover art ever. Statik annoys me but I'll admit he's alright. Term annoys me but I can't dig his content, ever.

Comment: I like Stat and Term most of the time- but I can only get into like 2 songs- Lights Down and Thug Poets.. The rest of the Stats beats seem very mediocre and boring. I fell in love with Statik Selektah's production many years ago but it seems like he does not put much effort into a full album. I wish this album and their first both had more boom bap sound that we are all used to hearing from Stat- unlike the majority of this album.

Comment: oh so everyone on here is now a "backpacker"? great way to stereotype on nothing you know about anyone on here personally posting. again, everyone has opinions so speak your mind. I dont care if you are 39 or 13 from the Bronx. what is the relevance? I have no beef with Statik or Term but comparing Statiks loops to either Primo or Pete Rock is comparing apples to oranges. I can name 20 to 30 producers in the game that doesnt get the same recognition that Statik is getting. Statik got beats period, I personally would like him to step up a little and not have the same sounding material. Thanks for the feedback Chuckback

Comment: This shyt is hot. I don't care about how static makes beats. They sound hot. Loops are hip hop. Primo, Pete Rock etc all use loops. These beats make your head nod or at least tap your feet. Terms lyrics above average, not necessarily elite but good enough with varying subject matter. You backpackers only like abstract rap that sounds like freestyling anybody can do that. Try and make a song. I'm 39 from the Bronx I know what I'm talking about.

Comment: 1 star for term. I have always questioned how statik selectah has gotten as far as he has due to the fact the he literally takes ultimate breaks and beats cuts em up and throws em on a loop completely unmixed (im not even sure he compresses his drums)its just lazy and embarrasing that he holds the torch as of right now for boston hip hop. theres dudes in the boston area far more qualified to be representing an already questionable hip hop scene in a city where there is only hate and no support through fellow artists it just amazes me that this is what happens to seep through. check out INSIGHT or RAIN or MR LIF to name a few. I feel like im going too much into the negative side but it had to be said. statik, step your game up and stop cutting on a cd dj!!!

Not to say I don't like "progressive" hip hop because I do, I'm just a little more traditional/ melodic than the albums you listed. It's all good though, thanks! Peace..

Comment: well what I should have said Rigger, is that he spells like how a teenage girl text messages her "BFF" ha. nah but nevermind that nonsense. Blacastan is dope my dude (demigodz for life!!). Blacsabbath was official and even the mixtape that he dropped that was mixed by the bladerunners was dope. His new album is dope as well. Some people arent feeling columbeyond's beats but I think this dude is slept on. Honestly, anything you get from Blac is dope but you cant go wrong on "Blacsabbath" though. Good looks Rigger. Keep it real up there with the KOTD heads.

Comment: Rigger, why dont you take some prozac and calm down. everyone on here is a hiphop head. everyone is entitled to their opinions and clearly we both are opininated. You dont know me and my knowledge on hiphop so dont claim you have a bigger library then me. It is what it is. I am 32 myself and have been listening to hiphop since xclan/public enemy. I am not bagging on Canadians either. I think there is a lot of talent out there even with the battle scenes. Nas hasnt been relevant since "it was written" but whatever. If you want to politic on the subject matter than its all good. at least we started a hip hop convo and thats all I care about. Im not talking to cardinal official am i? either way I respect your opinions and either way, you have passion about the music you love but dont say your wiser than me because again, you dont know me. thanks for getting back at me. peace

Comment: @d-stroi: Who cares I've been listening to hip hop for 30 years? Nobody! It doesn't mean anything whatsoever, except the fact that I love hip hop, and I have a way bigger/better vinyl collection than you.. (HA, HA) But seriously man, I make a point of mentioning how much amazing talent is coming out of this new hip hop generation. You respond with I'm "grandfather time" with no more opinion than anyone else? You're absolutely correct. You know where you pissed me off? Talking shit about Canada, get educated man because there has been lots of talent from here since way back in the day. Toronto cats have been working alongside New York, Detroit, etc since the 80's!! Who gives a shit anyways, the thing about hip hop is that it is GLOBAL, not yours, not mine, EVERYBODY'S!! There's some cat in a small African village somewhere rapping, that's the beauty of it!! Anyways, I've learned a lesson here, don't hand out a compliment unless you're ready to get SHIT on for it. Last but not least, hip hop never died (you been listening to too much NAS). It is alive and thriving thanks to all of us supporting it over the years. Thanks to UGHH as well, underground forever.. Got it d-stroi? Grandfather time is a little wiser than you, just chill, it will come in time.. Peace..

1. Reks STraight, No Chaser
2. Apollo Brown & O.C. Trophies
3. Ka Grief Pedigree
4. 1982 2012
5. Copywrite God Save The King

Comment: Only a few full listens so far, but it's about a 2.5 out of 5 for me. Statik is putting in work, and anyone who says otherwise needs to stick to the dumbed down bullshit, with the same old sounds. Statik is a true original. That being said, a couple tracks on here were rather lackluster for the standards 1982 have already set. Some pretty bad signing on a couple tracks, and the inclusion of Mac Miller is just.....well......I lost respect there. Mac is a joke. Keep him off albums in the future. The kid is trash. Period. C'mon fellas...you're better than that.

Comment: after about 3 spins, I thought it was pretty decent, but I actually have quite a bit of issues with it. I liked all the beats except Track 3. and the girl singing at the end of track 3 and 4... she needs to stop. she's terrible. Termanology is pretty ill, but his song concepts were a little cliche and boring. he spit some straight bars every now and then, but he just got old after awhile. and if Mac Miller can outshine you on a track, you're doing something wrong. some of the beats were fantastically good in my opinion. Right Now and the song with Lil Fame are probably my favorites... possibly some of my favorite Statik Selektah beats ever. overall the beats are what make it so listenable, but i've heard much much better verses from Termanology. i'm pretty sure he was outshined on every song with a guest feature. it's a good thing Reks didn't hop on any tracks, Term would've been destroyed. he was a pretty off on this project. but I liked the beats on this one a little more than on Straight No Chaser. the only difference I was feelin Reks on all the songs... I wasn't feelin Term on all of these songs.

Comment: Rigger, I guess I respect your opinion to a certain degree. I mean, statik is nice but again, I think he is inconsistent with his beats. some blah/boring and others eh. Apollo Brown IS a better and well rounded producer right now. I think everyone on here can agree with that assessment. Thats not taking anything away from Statik but I think his beats are more of a hit or miss. Who cares if you have been listening to hip hop for over 30 years grandfather time! doesnt mean your more intuitive then anyone else on here. You may think "hip hop isnt dead, it lives in the north", but it was born here and still lives here in the underground.

Comment: Correction, ALC used to be one of the best and was once upon a time one of my favorite producers. I remember when he started out with the whooliganz when he was jus some kid so I have been around for his entire musical progression. You must be some youngsta who has been bumping his pots and pans computer production these last few years and think its all gravy. I guess its just a matter of opinion, I enjoy soulful funky boombap treats while others enjoy more metallic computer synth sound percussions.. to each its own!
