Comment: I guess it's okay. It really depends on what style of Hip Hop you're into. Myself, I prefer native tounge as well as alternative creative styles (i.e. the roots, DOOM,Yasiin Bey, etc.) over anything else. Still, you gotta recognize that they spit fire. |

Comment: personally been detached since newer generations of so called hip hop have been going stale, not surprised that hip hop hasnt evolved in to something new and just became something else only now its became just a pseudo hybrids of some sort of electronic hip hop. the question is why is the newer generation interested in still calling it hip hop and being part of hip hop. I myself give high respect to those that pave the way, you should keep in mind that Hip Hop with a capital "H" (said by KRS One) lower h is mainstream journalists that address it by "h", yes Hip Hop is now 30 years plus, if u were born in the 90s you would not understand what Hip Hop Purists talk about when it comes to nostalgia, thats when Hip Hop was at its best, it just feels that if ur a fan of today's hip hop u almost feel obligated to accept something that is mediocre and not something that those that love what Hip Hop was once. todays hip hop precedes Hip Hop of the 2000s, Hip Hop in the 2000s that preceded the generation in the 90s were evolutionary and innovative and continued were Hip Hop left of at from the 90s and the 80s. I guess it seems that the big label corporate hip hop artists or producer approach hip hop production with different new tools now that just dont come close to the original quality of that 12bit SP MP sampling capability of that boom bap with funk drum samples that give Hip Hop that true BBoy persona. keeping tradition of the culture alive these days just gets harder as things change, remaining the same through the decades just says that it has consistency and remains in cherry condition at its classic original state. dont get me wrong, but the true Hip Hop resides in the underground and independent not corporate mainstream because in the independent scene the artist or producer has complete control of their creativity so the product is potent and not watered down like what corporate mainstream hip hop appropriates to the general public even if u still think its ghetto. That Raw BBoy essence still remains in the underground and independent grassroots Hip Hop and I hope it continues to live there. Comment: not a kendrick fan like everybody else, I mean at all... or even asap or big krit, I would listen to Action Bronson because Dante Ross promotes him, if you dont know Dante Ross and who he is responsible for signing who to a label as an A&R... look that up! its historic if you dont know by now. and the rest, I would listen to Danny Brown or maybe just maybe Joey Badass, I dont know of yelawolf. all I got to say is it seems this generation of rappers dont have it like the golden era and the kids born into the digital age dont know what its like when Hip Hop was greatly linked to good jazz, funk, rock and soul music of the 60s and 70s through sample-based music. Sample music did Pay dues to the past greats and allowed them to go back on tour and do shows through royalties. what I dont understand is this generation made a few mistakes by sampling the sampling artist's work even if its a mixtape, now how is that paying dues and to whom should they give credit to because its definitely not being original. another thing is kids in the digital age are prone to be more vulnerable to the hype because Social media especially for hip hop seemingly pushes for corporate music all because its all too easy for them. |
