Name: PhobikONE503 (Posted: 1/26/2003 9:53:00 PM) Summary: Beat Hits And Its On!!!! Comment: This starts nicely, a dope beat to start and some nice lyrics placed, and nicely "commercialized" rhymin' that cracks me up. Then it’s the first change, nicely done, and as well the MCs switch and is on point. It flows decent but not the smoothest beat. Planet Asia is damn dope but not the dopest here, but then the beat changes again, which is so dope, it’s a banga beat, but they just talk over it. Then it switches as Phil jumps aboard and rips this beat but the beat is what’s weak, so it takes away from Phil's rhymes. Still a nicely done joint, and interesting enough to listen to. It changes up once more and it sounds similar to some Premo instrumental, not the drums. Nice project but not what it could have been if they would have taken more time with it. | Name: Leo27 (Posted: 11/12/2002 2:12:00 AM) Summary: Cali's Finest Comment: No doubt, before I heard this joint I knew it's was going to be a banger. Big Dro and his compadres all come off nice, especially my favorite emcee, Planet Asia. Peep how the beat switches after every verse. Cop this joint definitely. | Name: Xodus Ph.D (Posted: 11/7/2002 10:09:00 AM) Summary: Feelin Parts, But Not Others.. Comment: To me, the 2nd and last beats were the hottest, and the only real shining part in the song seemed to be every verse on the 2nd beat. My opinion: solid track but, Mos Def a little long.
| Name: Ash-en-wan (Posted: 10/30/2002 10:02:00 PM) Comment: Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not even 5, but six damn change-up’s are found on this tiring 12”. Sh*, I was positively gaping after the 5 minutes 39 seconds of this record. On first listen this track is reminiscent of back in the day, when Crazy Legs was a young nubile b-boy, bopping his legs outta the ghetto and onto ya TV screen. But sh*t, on second listen the switches are just plain annoying. Phil tha Agony typically puts in a solid performance, but each MC on display fails to shape up to the excessive arrangement of the beats. The shortest beat is ironically (if you Yankees get that sh*t) the dopest! Go figure eh?!? | Name: yellow5 (Posted: 10/28/2002 1:14:00 PM) Summary: Shame... Comment: Collabo of Cali's most-likely to be dope and unheard. No exaggeration, DRO has been one of the rhymers I’ve most admired since ’96. 427 has been putting in work for his homies, but he is still solid on the creative side. Asia is Asia and Phil is Phil. | Name: royalslic (Posted: 10/28/2002 11:10:00 AM) Summary: Let Your Ears Flavor This... Comment: I've listened to Planet Asia, 427, and Phil the Agony progress over the years. All I have to say is that they still have the same innovative style as when they first started spittin’. |
