Born Talent brings some creative wordplay to table here as he pays homage to the underground musicians. The Avid Record Collector does a solid job with the fairytale beat. Everything works pretty nice here so just get your click on. |

But did anyone notice how the opening sample was jacked from the Mars Ill- Raw Material CD? C’mon now, how you gonna steal that sample when the Mars Ill dropped like two years ago? The lyrics are decent, but I think there could’ve been more references to underground legends. |

Name: mini wheat (Posted: 9/4/2002 12:44:00 AM) Summary: Essence Comment: Props to Born Talent and The Avid Record collector. This song is needed in hip hop. I seen this cat battle a few times around NYC and he is nice. I always thought he was just an "off the dome" emcee. Now I know he can write and spit too. |
Name: THATRUTH (Posted: 9/4/2002 12:28:00 AM) Summary: Reminiscing Comment: This cat definitely must have been in the indy scene for the past few years. I like the way he cleverly named all the real hip hop groups, and tied the song titles in it too. Only real underground hip hop lovers over the past few years will really appreciate this song. Production is tight and I love the sample scratches. THUMBS UP. A must buy! |

His first verse wasn’t as appealing as the second. If Born Talent keeps dropping gems like this he'll be renown too. Cop this joint right away. |
Name: Optimus Styles (Posted: 8/27/2002 3:46:00 PM) Summary: Decent Comment: This joint is decent, the more I listen it kinda grows on me. Although the producer "The Avid Record Collector" should be giving DJ Dust respect for using a sample he dug up on the Mars Ill album. In fact, Soulheir did a song similar, but it came off much better. Oh well, everybody is still asleep I guess. "I appreciatively appraise Born Talent as one of the rawest MC's that ever clutched the microphone." -Lyrikally Infinite. I mean this cat is nice, but do you understand what your saying? I don't see what is that abstract neither.

Name: Dominicano (Posted: 8/23/2002 5:18:00 PM) Summary: Brings You Back... Comment: This track kinda brings a brother back to the basics; refreshing, mellow beat with ill scratching that doesn't overshadow the lyricist. Check it out. |
