Comment: Alright, here’s the deal. Brother Ali releases, in what seems to unfortunately be more and more of an oxymoron these days, his both highly anticipated and respected LP, “The Undisputed Truth”, on Rhymesayers Entertainment. Rhymesayers, in a bit of clever marketing, then proceeds to release three singles for the United States bashing single, “Uncle Sam Goddamn”. All three singles feature this track on the A-side, whereas each features a new, non-album track on the B-side. Collect ‘em all. And the best part is, and it’s kind of embarrassing that it took me a full review to actually figure this out, is that each single is pressed on a different color piece of wax (red, white, and blue), ironically juxtaposed against Brother Ali’s unpatriotic lyrics. Pretty damn funny. “No Alibis”, featured on your red piece of vinyl, delivers a message to all potential revolutionaries with lines like, “the dark intimidates you but when the lights shown the backbone gets a little straighter, dying for what you believe is the easy part, suffering through this life is when we see your hearts.” Damn I gotta stop reviewing Brother Ali. Makes me feel lazy and self-absorbed. I’d suffer through this life for Jessica Alba though. For real. Dying would be the easy part. |
