Name: blibstar (Posted: 9/15/2003 5:13:00 AM) Summary: All Rise For The Pioneers Comment: De La are back with help from the man of the moment, Sean Paul. Jay Dee does his magic and De La delivers. I expect more of the same to come, but this is floor filler for sure! | Name: rluong (Posted: 8/17/2003 3:16:00 PM) Summary: Nice Comment: I'm surprised this hasn't blown up on the radio and if it doesn't it really is a waste cause it’s a hot record. Jay Dee made a real nice beat on this one and De La and Sean Paul come nice. | Name: bringthenoyz (Posted: 8/14/2003 2:12:00 PM) Summary: This Track Is Cool Comment: This track is good but I like “Much More” much better, but I like the Sean Paul hook. This is a club track that should be played in every club. | Name: Paul (Posted: 8/12/2003 5:20:00 PM) Comment: 'm as big a De La fan as they come, but even I thought 2001's “AOI:Bionix” was pretty lackluster. If the Art Official Intelligence trilogy is to be completed, De La has decided to do it at the right time. We've pretty much forgotten the filler-plauged Bionix (which has now gone out-of-print), and "Shoomp," along with "Much More," showcases a De La who still has that special something that has made them one of hip-hop's all-time best groups. Jay-Dee offers a trademark bouncy beat that, as many other critics have noted, cleverly reworks the oft-sampled "Genius Of Love." Sean Paul's hook flows nicely with the track making "Shoomp" a winner. Hopefully, De La won't pad their next release with pointless filler, but I have confidence in them. Keep up the good work! | Name: Kondor03 (Posted: 8/7/2003 6:45:00 PM) Summary: Middlin' Comment: I'm not crazy about this song. It features one of the biggest and most annoying dancehall artists out right now, Sean Paul, on the hook. This track is definitely for the clubs. We get to hear that "Genius of Love" sample flipped yet again, how refreshing. | Name: D.L.C. (Posted: 8/6/2003 1:15:00 PM) Summary: Should Be A Major Hit. Comment: De La Soul going the indie route? Could prove to be a better move for the aging, but timeless, trio. The last two AOI installments were solid LP's that barely sold. If this is any indication of their new direction, they can finally net themselves a hit record. Detroit's Jay Dee gives them one hell of a groovy beat and Sean Paul's dancehall deejay stylings give the song much needed flavor. The clubs should love this but the college radio/pro-underground will overlook this. |
