Name: zero basement (Posted: 4/16/2004 11:12:00 PM) Summary: For You Toys That Dont Know Talent When It Pimp Smacks You Comment: Dead Prez is the ish!....and all you chumps out there they cant see that are really some haters....this song not only has good word play and a banging beat but it has content with consciousness...something most songs nowadays lack...if you dont like this song your probably thickheaded to real hiphop....but keep bumping your weak ass Anticon bullsh!t and enjoy how "underground" you are. |
Name: I CHING (Posted: 7/11/2003 7:49:00 PM) Summary: We Don't Need More Than Mc's We Need Hueys Revolutionaries Comment: I think Dead Prez are revolutionaries that the world needs. They mention things that are really true and people don't wanna see but "Would you rather have a Lexus or justice? A dream or some substance? A Beamer or necklace our freedom.”

Name: danaldo (Posted: 5/14/2003 6:30:00 AM) Summary: Whats On The Radio? Comment: I’m in the UK but someone must have done somethin to make Stic mad.. The verse, "whats on the radio/propaganda mind control/and turnin it on is like puttin on a blindfold...." is the best rhyme.

Name: BLack One (Posted: 1/26/2003 8:47:00 AM) Summary: This Is The Sh*t Right Here! Comment: Since day one Dead Prez hit us with some heart stopping lyrics and opened up our eyes about the government and its ways, which has inspired plenty other emcees. Any CD by Dead Prez is an excellent album. They are indeed the real People’s Army. |
Name: profadeq (Posted: 12/23/2002 5:45:00 AM) Summary: Lyrics But Bad Beat Comment: Man, Dead Prez is the tightest sh*t out right now! No one telling the truth like they are and if they had a better beat behind these vocals this song would have a harder impact. But the lyrics are real-to-real.

Name: PENetrate (Posted: 12/9/2002 3:19:00 AM) Summary: Seek And You Shall Find Comment: What's so bad with the radio? Of course there's a lot of crap on the waves, but you WILL find quality music if you search for it. Obviously from this track, these guys will NEVER end up on the radio. Rhyme schemes are weak, and the beats are worse than any other. |
Name: Slow Cash (Posted: 12/3/2002 8:16:00 PM) Summary: Dead Prez Is Real Comment: This track is definitely solid, one of my new favorite songs. As a matter of fact, I think it's one of the better singles I've heard in my short time exploring this website. Dead Prez may have spit racist sh*t in the past, but this track strays from that path. My only beef wit' it is that it's too short. Sometimes it's better to separate the art from the artist and recognize quality. Sh*t, I don't listen to the radio anyways!

Name: deadprezfan (Posted: 11/24/2002 1:46:00 PM) Summary: Dead Prez Still Pimpin Comment: Dead Prez, is by far, one of the best rap groups in the rap industry today and this album just proves that even more. I do think their old album “Lets Get Free” was slightly better, but “Turn Off the Radio” is still off the hook!

Name: dexterous (Posted: 11/22/2002 12:50:00 PM) Summary: Dead Prez Is Garbage Comment: To begin, I can easily hear Missy rhyming over this beat. Dead Prez's lyrics could be written by your average sixth grader, their styles are generic, and complaining about what's on the radio is not exactly original. Other than the fact that I can't stand Dead Prez for their constant racist comments (I can't stand racism in any form), their just no good any way. If you're looking for someone that talks about these same types of issues, but in a way that has some artistic merit, check out Saul Williams. He's far better than Dead Prez, plus, to my knowledge, he's not a freaking racist. |
Name: PhobikONE503 (Posted: 11/19/2002 2:40:00 AM) Summary: Its Dead Prez!! Comment: This is just ill! They rock like they were hittin’ bongos and drums in the jungle. I can see these cats just dancin’ around doing this rhyme. This is a track you'll see them perform at concerts, but I just hope they use that beat. Both ill and something new. This is a track I'll be listenin' to for a long time. |
Name: Juse Hed (Posted: 11/17/2002 12:29:00 PM) Summary: Pretty Hot Comment: I have always admired DP's afro-centricity in hip-hop. This track is very well blessed with the lyrics and the production although it is a beat that may be kinda hard to get used to. It's almost like the spin-off from there single "Hip-Hop" only the beat kinda drags. In addition, the creative skits added onto the track really shine and give a powerful message to those "hip-pop stars" out there. |
Name: Food Stamp (UGHH Staff) (Posted: 11/14/2002 11:49:00 PM) Location: Oregon, USA Comment: Put aside all the political righteousness that Dead Prez comes with and you’d have a decent group. Add a dash of consciousness and you have pure sickness- the good kind of sick. Yo, these cats, M1 and Sticman, have a message and each and every one of their songs has something to say. Never have I listened to a Prez cut and dismissed it for an avant-garde dope track, but rather their music made me think and “Turn off that Radio” does just that. “What’s on the radio? Propaganda, mind control, and turning it on is like putting on the blindfold.” Sh*t’s potent! Granted the beat is not gonna make Grams walk again, but it’s off the scale in its own. Sick of the same ol’, then turn off that radio and turn this on. |
Name: Spacer (Posted: 11/14/2002 4:09:00 PM) Summary: Dead Prez Campaign To Turn Off Radios Comment: This song is what most Dead Prez fans will expect. The beat sounds like a record going backwards, it is very hype but I wonder if it will catch the ear of the mainstream. Dead Prez comes as hard as usual. |
