Summary: Annoying
Comment: Yeah, I know this came out 5 years ago, but I just happened to stumble upon this track today, figured I had to write something about it. First off, everyone's heard this beat before, ever heard of Necro's "Robbery"? Necro's version of the beat is way better, although DJ Serious doesn't make it sound bad. Comment: Wow, this is the first cut I've reviewed that I'm feeling. In the tradition of Freddie Foxxx's "Industry Shakedown" and 50 Cent's "How To Rob", "Popped" has D-Sisive expressing his disdain towards today's pop music stars. His verses are actually pretty funny, but are sometimes taken a little too far as he talks about things like "smashing Puff Daddy's Bentley up" and disses the Backstreet Boys, Ricky Martin, the Spice Girls, and any other pop star you can think of for that matter. DJ Serious' beat (I assume it is his) is really nice as he layers some funky horn stabs and jazzy keys over an upbeat bass line. Some might look at this as a novelty cut, but it's a good and pretty humorous track if you don't take it too seriously. |
