Comment: No doubt Necro is great with the lyrics and this is one solid song with a real street feel to it. Really makes you think about drugs. Be sure to check the video if you think you can handle it.

Comment: Necro is emerging as a singular talent. One with a multitude of abilities, he first came to attention as the producer of Cage’s ‘Radiohead’. On the release of his own 12 inch ‘Underground (Rules and Ghouls)’, he provided a genuinely scary account of mental instability. A self titled EP proved to be as provocative – but not as thought provoking as 187 Reasons Y. This 20 minute silent black and white film was written and directed by him, and has already acquired a cult status within the NYC underground scene. Apparently you need drugs to make head or tail of it. Which might explain I Need Drugs. This is actually a love song – and the object of Necro’s affections is another fix. LL Cool J’s ‘I Need Love’ provides the musical backdrop and lyrical thrust. At first it threatens to be lame and obvious. By track’s end, though, you will find yourself genuinely moved by an addict’s ode to his addiction. Necro is so convincing here that you better add actor to his accomplishments. Lets hope he’s acting anyway. |
