Comment: From the start, I’m loving the melodic production. Then we hear the emcee approach the beat preaching about his love for H.E.R. You immediately think it’s an affectionate track for a female, but as the emcee progress you learn that the female he’s in love with is hip-hop. The first emcee rips it nicely, the second emcee’s flow needs a little work. I recommend purchasing this joint off the strength of the beat alone, because it’s heavenly. |

Summary: I Wish More Hip Hop Was Like This!
Comment: I really love this record! The theme is an update on Common's "I Used To Love H.E.R." track. The production is solid - they have taken Roy Ayers "Daylight"(?) track and added extra simmering keys that make it sound fresh for 2005! The lyrics are nothing amazing but compliment the track well and definitely do not come off corny - which would have been an easy mistake to have made. Future classic? |
