It's the album the black sheep of A Tribe Called Quest have been longing to do since Midnight Marauders came out in 1993. I didn't like his first single "Bend Ova" (and boy was that opinion popular!). I was afraid that the whole album would be as weak as the lead single but I was wrong thank god. The other cuts that have leaked out from Ventilation since then have been so much better. "Flawless" (on the flipside of this 12) for example was really intresting, especially the line that seems to be a diss aimed at Q-Tip. "Lemme Find Out" also gets two thumbs up. The Soul Brother no. 1, Pete Rock plus Muddy Ranks appears to be a winning combination. Do the Redman and pick it up pick it up. |
