Item Summary
The streets have demanded it and now it's finally here!! The long awaited and highly anticipated follow up to their 1997 classic, "The War Report." Queens bred hip hop duo Capone and Noreaga bring you "The War Report 2". CNN established themselves in the late 1990s as the voice of the streets, spitting gritty street corner commentary and giving the world a first hand look into the underbelly of New York's ghettos. Now, a decade plus later, they're back offering he same true-to-life tales of struggleand victory. Partnering with the Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon the Chef and his Ice H20 record label, "The War Report 2" finds both NORE and Capone at the pinnacle of their lyrical prowess. The first single, "Hood Pride" features Faith Evans and sets off a series of soon to be classic songs. Additional guest stars include the likes of Raekwon, Nas, The Lox and Busta Rhymes to name a few. Capone and Noreaga have maintaned their positions as street generals and offer their listener an opporitunity to experience once again, the real hip hop the game has been missing.

Comment: Phukkin' Nore is thee WORST "signed" rapper in history... PERIOD! I mean seriously? Are they dope? I should say not! The whole what what superthug era was trash. Purely steaming piles. And Chef phukkin RIPPED these cats on their own $hit and that was the HOOK????? You are certainly supposed to know that you can't put cats on your $hit that are cobras who legitimately spit venom when you are GARBAGE. There is a lesson in this somewhere. I would say to write a song about it but it would suck.

Comment: This ain't no where near the first War Report album, but it's a good album nonetheless. The Nas track is a bit disappointing, The Reserves is sick though, as is Pain and I can't stop listening to the Faith Evans track, Faith never got her props in this music biz. She needs to put out another album.

Comment: Hey LPAC, respect to ya. I know it's hard to like a lot of newer stuff in the game, but it is what it is. But have you heard any of Lupe Fiasco's Fahrenheit 1/15 mixtapes? Those 3 mixtapes alone are top-notch classics compared to his mainstream studio albums. I'll recommend just one song to ya, and then I'll shut up about it... His song "Lupe The Killer"... Listen past the corny "Revenge of the Nerds" intro. When that beat kicks in, I KNOW your head is gonna be bobbin! Hey yHATE, I love Jay Elect, but have you actually heard J. Cole? I'd wouldn't say he would "merck" him. Yes, he'd wipe Drake out the water, for sure. But J. Cole is from the South too, reppin NC, and I have yet to hear a verse that he didn't rip apart, freestyle or on wax. If you don't believe so, re-listen to his tracks "Can I Live" and "Get Away", or check out any of his freestyles, like Hot97 with Funk Flex or the Tim Westwood one. I think J. Cole and Jay Electronica are runnin neck and neck as far as new blood in the South. You know they've already been on wax together, on Reflection Eternal's song "Just Begun". Now come on, you can't say J. Cole ain't do his thang on THAT track... (and so there's no confusion as to who is who: First verse is Talib, then Jay Elect comes in, then J. Cole, and lastly Mos Def)

Comment: Yo J-Aura I probly went a bit over the top with my comments aimed at you, I do respect your comments as you have posted alot in the past and I have agreed with alot of them but I just dont get the T-pain or Lupe shit. But anyway I cant really say the greatest rapper alive as there is alot I could name, not just one, and trust me lil wayne is definatley not on there, but next generation emcee I cant say that either as im a bit of a 90's head and thats all I listen to really, I like the new roc marcy but hes not really new generation. Ive just got the lost godfather don album from 1998 called diaboliqe from this site, check it out, I rather hear that than a drake,j-cole etc album. Peace

Comment: Yo LPAC, I wasn't dissin Capone altogether... But you know his voice has always been a lil high-pitched. A dope MC still, but I know I'm not the only one that thinks that. I already know you don't have much love for the South, but I figure you haven't got to hear much T-Pain outside of his regular mainstreamed radio singles. Those are all and gravy or whatever, but his talent can be heard all throughout the rest of his joints. If you ain't got an ear for it, then it's whatever. But you don't Lupe Fiasco? What's there NOT to like about him? Can't be the lyricism, he's got some of the hottest punchlines I can think of, like... "I came up from the bottom of the eye exam, ZOOM! / Now I'm the biggest G up in the room!" I know every person ain't gon like one person. But who do YOU think takes that crown for "Best Rapper Alive" or "Top New Generation MC"?

Anyway this album is banging, noway near as good as war report 1 as Khadafi had a great part in that but nothing on this, still this is better than most the shit this year especially Eminem - recovery. Comment: LOL @ Megan Foxxx... Peace to ya. You know I'd tell anyone Eminem's Recovery album had a good ORIGINAL vibe of it's own... I can't say he's "best rapper alive" though... My crown would go to Lupe Fiasco as the "Top New Generation MC in the Game", but I digress... Compare the best HEAD-BANGERS from that new Eminem Recovery up to some of the best tracks up here... It's hard for me to say Recovery has a track with more KNOCK than CNN's "Bodega Stories" feat. the LOX or "With Me" feat. Nas. Of course, Rae the Chef dropped some ill verses too... But on the other end, I think I might ONLY like the guest appearances in general. I don't really listen to CNN on a regular, but... Capone's voice, in my opinion, always needed a lil more bass in it LOL I don't know, what y'all think? I can't see what y'all DON'T like about the production! LOL Y'all speakers might be a lil shot or somethin'... cuz from what I hear though mine, that shit got some kick. It has a smooth mafia feel to it overall... The kinda QB shit from '96, like the classic "Affirmative Action" by The Firm... 4 ill verses over that instrumental... Damn! What has Foxy Brown been up to? During her time, she was beasting both chicks AND dudes on the mic! I'ma stop rambling in a sec, but before I go... What up D-Train, over there in Vegas! I know I'm tryin to hit up the Blackjack table sometime next year while I'm on this side of the nation! Also yHATE, holdin it down in Florida! Don't sleep on Florida, they got DOPE Hip-Hop just like the best of 'em. I won't have to throw in rappers who are more "gimmickey" like Plies and Rick Ross... But I'll definitely give props to veterans like Trick Daddy, new dope MC's like Ace Hood and Tay Dizm... Production from The Runners and The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League (not to be confused with "The Justus League", mostly from NC) Shit, I'll even say T-Pain is a TRILL azz MC in his own light... I say that NOT because of his candy radio singles, but because of his stage presence and live performances, period. I've seen him in concert... I can't say I know too many MC's that freestyle, breakdance, AND beatbox consistently through a show... and WELL! Don't sleep because of the Auto-Tune thing, he's a hell of an entertainer! Not to mention, he can't be at fault cuz ev'rybody and they mama wanted to bite off his style... His shit is ILL... WAY BEFORE it was mainstreamed...

Comment: Just listened to the album and it's better than I though it was going to be but it doesn't touch the first jawn....Nore and Capone have never been real ill on the mic but with that thug production and the steeze that they had they created a masterpiece on the first go round... As cats get older its hard to capture that real ill shit that u once had.. I hope they eat off it, but the production could have been better.... Not bad but aint up to the standard of the real war report...Tragedy was really missed but so was Marley, Buckwild, Charlemagne & Ez Elpee...

Comment: What does me living in Florida have to do with HipHop or this album?? Actually I'm from the Windy City Logan Square to be exact. I just moved out here for the weather. What's wrong this album?? The beats are raw and bang in my whip and N.O.R.E was never great as a lyricist. But they came correct on this album. Babe I got all them QB albums from Cormega, Lake, Screwball, Blac Poet, Rapper Noyd, Mobb Deep, Nas, Big Twins, Infamous Mobb everything I got it. I'm just saying this album didn't disappoint me at all. I got mad Love for QB. They make good records they all do. Sorry but I don't care for Drake or Weezy. The real MC's I care for that is holding HipHop down like IDE Ideology is the best album for 2010 so far to me. Shit I even liked that new Eminem(Best Lyricist to me Alive).

Product of the 80's, way better album than capone and noreaga could ever make, War Report 1 was classic purely cauze of the production and verses from tragedy who was obviously writing all of cnn's shit at the time, take away those classic producers and no tragedy you got nothin, this is sesame street rap rite here, purely for school children

Comment: I feel that it's a chill project. No,it's not better than the first War Report, but the effort was present.Nore, in my opinion ripped it and came with the lyrics that headz can respect. The only downside was that some of the beats selection was a lil' weak.Alchemist, got the top honors as far as comin with it.Hell, imagine if he did the whole damn project. It would've been fresh up and down...Peace to everybody and stay up.

Comment: i'm thinking this is one of those albums that will grow on people. the producers on this album were a little disapointing. the drum work was weak. I liked the vibe of the music. I would have loved hearing this album if it was engineered by the aftermath cats. it just sounds thin, but in all a good album. nore is one of my favorite people in general. dude is a real person. peace to cnn. I hope they eat off this one.
