Item Summary
It's been a long time coming, but Elzhi is finally set to release his proper solo debut The Preface. Produced almost entirely by Black Milk, The Preface shows one of the finest lyricists of his era raising the bar for emcees in 2008. Elzhi has been relentlessly recording of late, and while this release took longer than many of his fans had wished to see the light of day, look for the follow up The Feed to hit shelves in 2009.

Comment: So much potential and fell short. Beats are half-ass. Rhymes are what kinda saved this album. I'm as big of an Elzhi fan as anyone else and expected a lot more. Tracks 4,5,8,10,15 are good, everything else is filler.

Comment: Such a massively slept on Album. The production from Black Milk is thumping, and diverse enough to not sound repetitive. Elzhi sounds hungry, and displays exceptional lyrical gymnastics. If Elzhi's next album, "The Feed," can top this, then it's bound to be classic.

Comment: Nice work coming out of the D! This album is a banger for real and my dude is actually rappin' and spittin'. He aint talkin' bout the murders he did or the Roley and the Benz and all that other shit. My man just straight rappin' his ass off. That "Motown 25" and "What I Write" joint is gettin' heavy rotation in the whip right now. Elzhi is spittin' acid on this one for real. Good lookin' to Black Milk on those beats too. The "D" made it's mark with this one! Very cool indeed my dude!

Comment: Real talk. Joe Squat hit it right on the head. I've always known this cat was ridiculously nice, but I always had a feeling that he was the type n*gga that couldn't carry an entire album without T3. I stand corrected. This album was absolute FIRE.

Comment: I knew Elzhi from the work he did with S.V. and on Little Brother's classic "The Minstrel Show", but I had NO idea that he could carry an entire album basically by himself. This joint is a classic in the making...

Comment: eLZhi is nasty on the mic no doubt but I was kinda disappointed with this album..Its almost as if he had to "dumb down" his thoght process in order to appease to the production..Dont get me wrong, Milk is dope on da boards but production from a few other beat makers would hav brought out more flavor I believe

Comment: Sounds like some quality shyt. It doesn't sound like the same Elzhi, though. His rhymes aren't as concentrated, and laden with his characteristic mult-syllabic style. His delivery is still crisp though.
