 Name: John (Posted: 5/5/2010 3:42:00 AM; Partial IP: 52.247.228) Location: Edmonton Comment: i love all of eso's other solo releases, but on this one he sacrificed too much for the sake of the concept of the album. his lyrics aren't as strong, his beats aren't nearly as good, and some of the songs just aren't his style at all. but I find that all rap albums that try to make a story type of concept album (more in the vain of prince of thieves and I phantom than deltron 3030 or de la soul is dead) tend to sacrifice the technical qualities for the overall effort. don't get me wrong though, there are some great songs here; the concept is great, the guests are great, and the vocal samples are all entertaining. if you want to hear eso do what he does best (hard beats and rhymes), try egoclapper or esoteric vs. japan/gary numan, but if you want to hear an entertaining linear concept album, go for this one, and enjoy the ride. |
