Comment: Without getting lost in the story behind this album and its long-delayed release, if you really listen to the production (even though it is the great J Dilla)and lyrical content from an unbiased standpoint, this album is very mediocre. The beats sound like they were chosen from the cutting room floor in Dilla's lab and Frank N Dank are fair MC's at best. Just look at the song titles and that tells the story. Pretty shallow. Not a whole lot to chew on with this album. There's more to hip-hop than strip clubs and smoking weed. Definitely a disappointment. The 3 stars are in honor of JayDee and his phenomenal body of work. Unfortunately, it's not on display here. |
