Comment: Despite Donut's legendary place in hip hop, it contains one of dilla's worst beat ever.. "Hi". Other than that this man is a pure genius and theres no one who appriciates Dilla's work more than me, make sure you have a physical copy of this, because it is a classic and the beats are utterly nuts throughout. |

Comment: A creative genius, what we have here is the Picasso of Producers, not that I really like Picasso but just that its on that level of artistry and talent. Stop is a beat Id give 5 stacks for if I had it, but Sean Price laced it on Jesus Price Superstar (lucky maf****). Anyway whether your an emcee, a producer, or just a true fan of Hip-Hop than J-Dilla is what we all need....Its producers like him that pump the blood in2 the beat of our art. Wish some of the tracks were longer tho but I understand the CD. |

Comment: Dilla is straight crazy. I show this record to non hiphop heads and they love it. To really understand this album I would reccomend tracking down the songs Dilla sampled to make the beats. He has a way of completely rearranging compositions with his sampling, something I really think is beyond almost all other producers, save a very limited few. But Dilla did this entire album while dying in the hospital. There's deep meanings in the songs, even the 31 tracks is speculated to signify Dilla did think he'd see 32 (the day Donuts dropped). The last track being called the Intro is likely to represent the intro to new life after death. That same track samples a song titled "When I Die". Dilla knew his time was running thin, and instead of accepting his demise as most are apt to do, he gave us his heart and his soul with this album.

Comment: One of my favorite instrumental albums, all the tracks are crazy. I love 'Gobstopper', 'Lightworks', 'Two Can Win' the most......but man, you can listen to it straight through, the tracks blend in very nicely. Yep, I'm saying it.....5 Stars. R.I.P. Dilla. |
