Comment: 3 stars for dilla, this album is so sporadic and random to be called just that. this is more like a mixtape...a poorly mixed one. imo I dont think jay wouldve ever worked with these emcees its not that the unheard ones are terrible (just a hair above it) and the fact that majority of the beats have been heard and used on other releases says alot. entering the realm of posthumous releases is a tricky one (look at biggie and tupac) but after all is said and done this is only worth it if u want to support dilla's foundation. maybe pay jay lp sitting at stones throw can redeem this feeble attempt. oh and the artwork should speak volumes for what is inside that case. nuff said |

Comment: what did you people think it was gonna be? some beats u might know with new features, throwaway beats never heard cause thats whats left in his archive, soulful chops and bangers never released that make the album worth it cause anyone here is here to support the dilla foundation or at least should be. did you expect more from a deceased legend and a loving mother trying to continue a legacy for her son who majorly blew after his death. dilla never had the best features on his solo efforts. he repped his city always. could it be better? every album could be better but you get dilla and thats what you want aint it? tell ya like this, 2,8,10,12,13,14,17,18 dope as hell!!!!!! 19,20,21 grow on you and are dope. thats more than you get with other albums. id buy it with just those tracks. dont care if beats were released or not. there all on one disc and everything sounds good. some tracks coulda been scrapped and track order could be better, but dilla didnt have a say in it. |
