Summary

KRS-One and True Master, both Legends in their own right, have come together for the first time on their joint album Meta-Historical. KRS-ONE, for anyone who has been paying attention to hip hop for the past two decades, is one of the most respected MCs of all time. Whether you are talking about KRS-ONE classic Boogie Down Production releases, such as Criminal Minded or his recent album with Marley Marl KRS-ONE has kept his fans wanting more. True Master, along with The RZA, is responsible for creating the soundscape that has come to be associated with the Wu- Tang Clan. True Master has production credits on such certified Platinum and Gold classics as Wu-Tang Clan's "Wu-Tang Forever", Ol' Dirty Bastards "Return to the 36 Chambers", Ghostface Killah's "Iron Man", Ol Dirty Bastard's "N***a Please", Method Man's "Tical 2000" and Cappadonna's "The Pillage" to name just a small cross section of his work. KRS- ONE & True Master via Meta- Historical bring the listener on a voyage through hip hop history and comment on the current state of hip hop. True Master's production conjures up sonically what KRS-ONE effortlessly rhymes about. KRS-ONE and Wu-Tang fans will not be disappointed.

Comment: The first two verses are pretty much self-glorification raps. Not that the mc's aren't talented (What a great verse by Inspectah Deck), but can you really identify any elements that make these verses extraordinary? Raekwon rhymes about the same things all of the time - in this verse his sentences are choppy and don't connect - nothing fully developed. Good - yes - but what makes it above average - unique? EST - not saying nothing special. U-God's flow is all over the place - some respectable content - doesn't make a major lyrical mark to me. I think Killah Priest is overrated. You can't just rhyme about angels and demons and automatically come off as enlightened, or rhyme about "the truth" and label yourself a prophet. All unique and fun in their own ways. All creative and artistic. But none even come close to fully elaborated upon concepts (Like Black Thought, Kweli) or really push any metaphorical boundaries (Like Cassidy, Eminem or Chino XL). You definitely recited verses - but they didn't serve as proof for anything. I mean, the type of track that I really remember is, "They say a record ain't nothing if it's not touching, gripping, draw you in closer make you want to listen to it. And if you real ill at makin music, the listener feel like he livin through it, that's how my n*gga do it." Viscous - conveying a message while lyrically hittin hard - none of these verses are even close to that caliber. Nothing of that depth. None of these dudes are better than Black Thought. That's the cool part about music, though. Who can really claim to be right or wrong?

Comment: Lars - you said before that Black Thought couldn't be top five in Wu Tang or top five outside of Philadelphia. What's your evidence? Can you provide even one verse of one person in Wu Tang(Or "Death Row Snoop" or any of the other rappers that you stated) that can give a Black Thought verse a run for its money - message and lyrical ability? Black Thought is a monster. I"m interested in your proof.

Comment: This will be great. Meta-Historical was a very good album and worthy of an instrumental release. As for you, Lars, would love to hear you rap... you probably can't string more than two cogent sentences together, let alone make 'em rhyme and mean something. Get lost.

Comment: Finally someone has found a way to silence KRS One. This is surely going to be better than the first release!
