Item Summary
THE LARGE PROFESSOR "THE LP" is Legendary Hip Hop Producer and Emcee Large Professor's highly anticipated 1st solo debut album that was originally slated to come out on Geffen Records in 1995/1996. Due to label politics at the time, the album unfortunately was never released. Now 14 Years later the official version of "THE LP" is available. "THE LP" includes bonus unreleased songs and a few rare unearthed alternate demo versions of classic tracks such as the "Mad Scientist". It also includes "I Juswanna Chill", "That Bullsh*t", the title track "The LP", "Hard", "One Plus One" featuring NAS, the newly polished up "Queens Lounge" and many more! All songs are produced by The Large Professor except "Large Pro:Verbs" produced by Vandamator & "Spacey" produced by Toney Rome.

The unreleased single "Amaman" b/w "Bowne" is available on 12" vinyl with instrumental and A Cappella versions (#PSP-005). "Amman" is a coming of age song where Xtra P kicks profound lyrics over a funky soulful track with an intense horn filled chorus. The B Side "Bowne" is Large Pro paying homage to his Alma mater: John Bowne High School in Flushing Queens, NY. "Bowne" has an infectious melody with thought provoking lyrics describing how he got his start producing and Emceeing back in High School.

This album is officially sanctioned by The Large Professor and being released through Paul Sea Productions. "The LP" is from the BOOM BAP era of Hip Hop... Before "JIGGY" and champagne spitting, money talking rappers became prevalent. As Large Professor states "This album represents a time in the 1990s when Hip Hop was more about the good times, when artists were rich in music and rich in talent and it wasn't about how much money you had."

Comment: At last after purchasing the 2 bootlegged versions on vinyl all those years ago we see the officially sanctioned release from the gifted man himself. This classic joint makes me reminisce over the good old days when hiphop was all about talent. I understand that the art form must evolve with the times but I'm surrounded by so much garbage like Lil Wayne, Soldier Boy, Jay Z, D-Block and that crap from the dirty south etc. I feel that the beat producer of the moment is Madlib and I'm still balling over the sad passing of the late great Jay Dee (R.I.P) HipHop as we knew it back in the day 80's and 90's was all about skills and tight lyricism. I understand that the kids keep the culture and movement alive as Lars stated but I've sold multiple spare copies of 80's and 90's releases to kids who've been blown away by the music of that era. Sorry to ramble on guys but the Large Pro's contributions from the Main Source days to his solo efforts are ESSENTIAL PIECES FOR ANY B-BOYS COLLECTION. Finally I'm so relieved to see that every head here gives this 14 year old masterpiece 5 stars. Much respect to you all! Peace!

Comment: LP is what hip hop really is and reps the art form to the fullest. Even though he's not a Jay or Nas, he is one the many artists that people cant' wait to hear & stays true to his craft. it doesn't matter if beats or rhyme he's is the art.

Comment: Let this Martin fool drown in ignorance. Extra P is the official hip hop aficionado of the 1st order. From Drums, to Djeing to being the illest MC to ever bless the MIC. The noblest thing about him is that he is always humble and I have never seen him get involved in any beef or criticize any artist whatsoever. Extra P forever.

Comment: To Martin Hollings what do you mean by hes a bit weird to put out old music, loads of people will cop this, reissues and unreleased 90's music are great, go pick up both Scientifik albums, buckwilds - diggin in the crates and lord finesse - the awakening and tell me we dont want re-issues, 90's hiphop will always be the best and timeless, sorry but thats the truth. just hope they re-release Al tarik - god connections, damn thats been deleted for too long:-(

Comment: Martin - you can't be serious when you write "He's a bit weird to put out old music as well - we don't want that at all." This album was never officially released - the truth is most people want that. Maybe you don't want it but based on the pre-orders, you are the minority. If people didn't want old music, then no one would be purchasing old school music or re-issues - which is obviously not the case. To Carleee - this is not a bootleg. This is put out by Large Professor's peoples at Redline Distribution/ Paul Sea Productions. You can read about this in the item summary on this page.

Comment: I love Large Professor...better late than never on this one! The man is hip hop genius...no one chops up samples into beats so sweet...now if only Eric B & Rakim can cut him those checks for his ghost production...I tell ya...some people are morally bankrupt. Kanye is the gay fish version of this man! Thankfully, Xtra P aint Kanye! (kanye is dope...just a lil gay fish...google it...lol!!)
