Item Summary
Masta Killa may not be the most high-profile member of the Wu-Tang Clan, but he's undoubtedly among the most consistent. The last original member to go solo, Killa has released two critically acclaimed albums in No Said Date and Made In Brooklyn, and has repeatedly stolen the show on recent Wu classics like Ghostface's Fishscale, Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt. 2 and RZA's Man With The Iron Fists soundtrack. Now, more than six years after the release of his last studio album, Masta Killa is back with Selling My Soul, a brand new collection to be released December 11th, 2012 through Nature Sounds and Royal Lion Music.

The title Selling My Soul may imply something sinister, but it has a deeper meaning for Masta Killa. "The music for this project was more in a soulful chamber," he explains. "Anything from the inner self is a part of the soul. I put my soul into my music, and I'm in the business of selling it." Featuring production from 9th Wonder, Mathematics, PF Cuttin, and more, Selling My Soul is a cohesive collection from an artist who doesn't feel pressured to change his sound. "I would describe it as soul and substance," says MK. "Soulful music and lyrics of substance."

While fans will undoubtedly be excited for Selling My Soul, some may be confused, as it was initially announced that Masta Killa's latest album would be titled Loyalty Is Royalty. "This is a totally separate project," Killa explains. "Loyalty Is Royalty is more feature-oriented...it's the kind of material that my fans normally expect me to produce. The people will still get Loyalty Is Royalty. I just felt the need to give them some soul first."

Comment: To truly appreciate and understand this album you need to listen to the full tracks. I'm glad this is on Music Unlimited so I could preview the whole thing. I think this may be one of those albums you may need to hear a few times before you change you realize you like it. This is real hip hop here. It has soul and substance, as mentioned. Might not be your style though this is an example of how hip hop should sound.

Comment: This album is interesting if you go into it with an open mind and not expect an traditional masta killa or Wu sounding album. The production on this project is quite nice if you enjoy laid back jazzy smoothed out beats. The lyrics are on point and thought provoking on some tracks. There are no hard hitting boombap beats on here or hard spittin darts but thats okay. This is a different sounding album for mature listeners, I liked the first album, second one not so much but this one im diggin quite abit.. enjoy!

Comment: I gave this 4 stars in the beginning but I'm gonna give it like a 2.8 , it's just not that good, I mean I don't get the purpose of this album , he said he felt like he needed to give the people this . Why ? We want album like his other 2 . There was just no need for this album , some ok songs but no bangers.all I hope is that gza has a fire album !!!

Comment: I'm actually fairly disappointed by this effort by him. It's like he pissed on a blank cd and turned it in to Nature Sounds. His last two albums were fire and he came out with this? Hopefully Loyalty Is Royalty is a lot more fruitful.

Comment: I would rather he lay to bed the claim of Loyalty is Royalty being something more like his fans would want to hear to bed and gimme THAT. This is cool but I can't ROCK it. This is mood music.

Comment: Wu-Banga, classic "can it be all so simple" like ...Killa shows his swordsmen ship as lyrically sharp, would have been nice to have Rza's touch of Raw and his clans men who still rep Wu

Comment: Good album , was hoping it was better though like his other albums , and was hoping for some wu features , why did he push back loyalty is royalty ? That's what people want to hear! But overall good album , it's always great listening to the wu !

Comment: WOW!!... I really hope the album sounds better than this bullshit. Masta Killa's albums have always been decent with pretty good tracks. But please... it's 2012 and you still making songs about "smoking weed" and the video looks like a 3yr old made it. I hope the album artwork is better also. With all the bullshit music out there... WU needs to step it up or just give it up. I'm tired of spending my money on artist that put out lazy ass shit.
