Item Summary
For over a decade, the Columbus, Ohio, artists that originally formed to make up MHz, rappers Copywrite, Camu Tao, Tage Future, and Jakki Da Motamouth, along with producer RJD2, have been some of the most influential and revered in the underground scene. But despite their impressive and varied solo careers, to date, the super crew has only released one album, 2001's Table Scraps, largely a collection of loosies and rare b-sides. MHz suffered a major setback in 2008 when Camu Tao, one of the most quietly influential rappers in the 00s, passed away after a two year battle with lung cancer. In his memory, MHz came back together to re-release Table Scraps via then upstart hip-hop label Man Bites Dog Records. Since then, MHz has been working on an official group debut and now, having changed their name to MHz Legacy in honor of Camu Tao, the group is proud to release their self-titled album. The album, released October 30th via Man Bites Dog Records, includes features from Danny Brown, Blu, Slug (of Atmosphere), ILL BILL, Slaine, and Oh No, and joining in-house producer RJD2 behind the boards will be Harry Fraud, Marco Polo, Stu Bangas, Illmind, and others. In memory of Camu Tao, the album also features a number of never-before-heard Camu Tao verses from the vaults.

Comment: Way better than "Table Scraps". One of the best underground albums in a while. Copywrite is the bomb. Really impressed with this album, wish I could get it on wax!

Comment: This is unbelievably bad music. This has no resemblance to Table Scrapes (hands down the rawest, most lyrically heavy piece of wit and art to come out of the Midwest during the early 00's). These polished money beats and sanitized lyrics are just signs that everyone has moved on. No Camu means a loss of realness that cannot be made up for. Tage will always be amazing held up against any standard, but Copy and Jaki...sad at best. You don't have to go any farther than Kryptonite to hear them rapping against their future self's. The intro of Combustion Spontaneous describes precisely the decay of this washed-up group of grown-up MC's. It's a nice gesture to the past, but thats all it is.

Comment: I'm so tired of hip hop fans comparing one album to another, or one artist to another. Does Rock do that, does Jazz do that? I can see comparing albums the artist has done themselves but to compare two differnent artists and albums is foolish. Example: This album is better than the Sean P and Vinnie. Quit comparing the shit dummy! Enjoy them for their individuality. Peace to MHz dope album yall!

Comment: Interesting comments JB, considering that Copy is an outspoken Christian. Anyway this wasn't what I was expecting. I wanted every song to sound like vintage "This Year" or "Widespread." RJD2 fell of big time - the only solid beats he did were "Four Player Mode" and "Somewhere" which is sort of one of the weaker songs on the album (it's not bad). Jakki isn't what he once was and his style is extremely played out at this point. Copy is dope but I've heard better from him and Tage is pretty consistent. It seemed like a lot of lackluster production. I'd be interested in seeing Copy do a full album with Surock.

Comment: I'll put my real name. I don't mind. This album sucks. This is not "grown man" music. Not by a long shot. There aren't any song concepts to speak of, other than making sure to take jabs at Christians in every other song. What a shame that people would praise this as being smart or ground-breaking. Its schlock. Its more of the same. I can sum the whole album up in a few sentences: "I'm great. I'm not to be messed with. I will kill you. I drink. I have sex with women who aren't deserving of respect. I don't like Christians. The end." Awesome. I mean, its borderline Shakespearian. We should put it in a time capsule to be opened two centuries from now. (Ugh).

Comment: How can someone release a dead mans work, there is no creative control for one of the people who released this CD. Also copywrite talking over camus verse is disrespectful and not being able to say good bye to camu before he died in preposterous, he didnt get hit by a bus he had cancer if copy really wanted to make peace he could have.

Comment: L. I would never pay or travel to see a wigger retard like copywrite attempt to move a crowd. his live shows must be horrible. sausage packing delusional nerd fests. he can't book a show anyway. i'm a listener. remember copywrite brought brass knuckles to a fight and still got lumped. he's a deformed troll that would get stomped by 95% of the ppl aware of is horrible music. besides copywrite is a good christian that gets DUI's and talks shit on twitter. he's not a fighter anymore.

You damn well he killed everyone on weathermen and all the eastern conference mixtapes. And have u heard his verse on the MHz single "Gone"? Be glad this dude is still spitting. I'm buying 2 copy's of this an I reaaaaally hope There's vinyl pressing 2.

Comment: Real talk - If you're not interested in the album, then don't bother commenting. If you really got a issue with dude, take it up with him face to face, instead of hiding behind a computer. These same cats running their mouth, calling dude out, wouldn't have the balls to go to his show, and do that shit live. Let alone see the man in the street. Get ya life right. // Aside from that - looking forward to this album.

Comment: copywrite has no money carl. so of course that's his main motivation. he's a pathetic human being. his whole "religious awakening" capped off with him crying online about getting a DUI. immature poser that once upon a time could come with a decent 16. he could never hold a project down. he's like 32 giving his life to jesus with an islamic beard and ends up getting a DUI. born loser. fuck copywrite. get punched in the head again you hideous nerd. get a real job. it's over.
