Comment: Best album since Illmatic. So good, evolved. Nas is the best of the best, even when considering the underground (Which is where he started, haters). Funny to me people hate so much. It's probably because Nas is so dangerous. He understands and appreciates other culture than his own. He understands more than one way of thinking. Fro these reasons I feel Nas is one of the greats (if not the greatest). Big and Pac are over rated. The best are NAS, Copywrite, DOOM and Aesop Rock. Ahhhh yeaaaaahh.

Comment: The Boom Bap Era will Never be over... And Nas has long been a has-been... If there wasn't such a media hype over this LP, no one would even care about it... Nas is an ageing veteran... The kids born in the golden era of beats&rhymes are about to take over... Golden Era II

Comment: 4.5 outta 5. Nas' best album since STILLMATIC. Some of y'all just got to get over it. There never be another Illmatic (or any other classic album for that matter). Sometimes you gotta let go...the Boom-Bap era is long over. Nas even delivers a back-handing remark for you (for my "trapped in the 90s n*ggas"). As another review said "Get the fuck over it." Other than the huge mis-step (Summer on Smash--for some reason rappers stay using Swizz beats and every time it be the worst song on the album) and the Rick Ross feature (who raps nothing about the subject of the song), This album is pretty f'in good. You should be celebrating, not hating, that Nas is back in the spotlight. I meant *back-handed* remark...oh yes my only other minor gripe is no DJ Premier. They went from "we are doing an album together" to...we can't even get them on a song together. And "Bye Baby" might be song of the year.

Comment: I tips my hat to you, Sir. You know we all like to mix it up but I am humble enough. He is definitely one of the Top 7 best to EVER do it... EVER. But what he has done is he became a brand. Lyrically unstaoopable by ANYONE on teh radio fro DAMN sure but he is no longer NAS.Don't give a shit what his license says, his pedigree speaks a different language. A cop is only a cop when he is uniform, he is a civilian without, right? HIS menatality says he is ALWAYS on the job. THAT is what is missing here. Dude forgot to remain what life made him OUT of the uniform.

Comment: I always wondered about the peeps on here that rate albums. I guess whenever a rapper wants to show how mature he's gotten over the years by rapping about stuff that really matter all of a sudden he's wack because of it. GROW THE FUCK UP!!!! You cant rap about the samw shit for 20 years. Plus not every song has to blow your damn eardrums out your head. Does every damn album nowadays gotta be about being hard 24/7? Jesus Christ you so-called hip hop heads irk the shit outta me with your narrow ass minded view of hip hop as a whole. Name ONE album that came out the national level, or any level for that matter, thats better than Nas' new joint......I guess keeping it real is nothing about being real at all, just another catch phrase like swag. If you cant appreciate what Nas is trying to do on this album maybe you should go listen to techno or something and leave the hip hop to the ones that know and love it for what it is.......

Comment: 1st off let me say that I am a NAS supporter till then end ok and I have bought the best albums to the wackess joints from hi...but I gotta say this album is at average ok...and its not nas himself he is always on point delivering a message in his music no rappers wanna focus on nowadays(money, gold teeth, women, cars, jewlery)all that ish is lame as fuck..im glad he always rise above and beyond...BUT its his production crew I have a prob with...there are some really great under ground producers that are really hungy (eric g, fatin, 9th, premo, kev brown, apollo brown, dela)...if he let a few of those prod get on his tracks there is no dowubt that he would have a illmatic prt 2 album..but its like he is getting accustomed to playing both sides of the fense with underground and commercial and those 2 never mix..EVER (oil & water)..will I support hell yes but even tho I love the 16's on every track I just cant get pass the production value...i think he is trying to stay current by succumbing to the new RAP (not hiphop) sound

Comment: I am just not feeling it. I didn't grow with the current state of HipHop. All jokes and rantings aside, I never really developed a love for when the beats went from being head bobbin hard to dance craze club bangers. Maybe that is where I fail. I tried to nod my head only to this and I can't. Honestly just can't. When it was going downhill for me I started listening to classic Rock after I went through and melted, in heavy rotation, my golden age catalog. I was about to let hipHop go and hated it until I rediscovered the underground. Honestly that is the truth. I hate the way it is all popular on the radio and what it IS is the watered down and seemingly pimped version of its former self masquerading as "pure". Life's a Bitch was MILES from this and "Got yourself a Gun" was the beginning of the end RIGHT there. No one will admit but there it was... Commersh. I honestly had a tough time at HipHops funeral and RAP's baby shower. Was the same day I think.

Comment: This album is probably Nas second or third best. Illmatic, It Was Written/Life is Good. It gets better every time you listen to it. I know these prics on here that hated on it at first are loving it now. The album is fire..the only so called commercial track is the "Summer on Smash" Swizz Beats track, which is still bumping. Track 1-8 are either on some creative different shyt with classical music infuence or straight 90's head nod. Tracks 9 to 16 are mostly smoothed out RnB classic sounding shyt. Personally I think Nas is at his best on these tracks kinda like "Street Dreams" with Rkelly and "Life's a Bitch" with AZ. The last 2 tracks go hard again. This is a complete album with virtually no fluff. Anybody that thinks its trash..go kill yourself. Go listen to that hypotheticalm metophorical orical back pack garbage using big words with no story line crap that you think should be the only hiphop out! Nuff Said!

Comment: NAS when will you realise that the people you cater for only appreciate you when you dropping good lirys over well produced beats... Probably never. I and the rest of the world keep listening to "one" album and keep the spirit alive, hoping tha one day you know and realise what we mean... get back in contact with the dudes that you made a classic with and we will listen to you again... sorry for being honest...I only buy record that are good from start to finish... this is at best mediocre = no air play!

Comment: It aint a 5 star (more like a 3) but ima give it 5 because these clowns giving it 1 sound like still bitter jay-Z fans. There are some tracks on here that hold serious weight and I am thankful Nas is still doing it & was able to create this. Have I been disapointed with past albums, shit yeah.. but that doesn't mean I turn deaf ears on a legend. This is a solid piece of work and I think Nas is about to break free from the chains persay and start blessing us with some of the rawness we've been craving (let's face it, bitches can get to all of us & fuck our heads up... hes free now) Dead the 1 star comments though, "Locomotive" is classic NO ID smashed on that one.

Comment: Seriously tho ya'll, your gonna put it on a level with illmatic an give your rating based on that...grow the fuck up..this is the closest he's able to get, he's a grown ass man now, alotta shits changed since 94'...Thats like saying every pachino movie is wack cause its not as good as scarface? This album is a breath of fresh air for nas, and it goes behind illmatic and it was written in my opinion...Summer on smash is the only skippable track when going through an intial run through... everyone whose illmatic bias, go ask martin mcfly if you can borrow the delorian and head back to 94...cause thats the only year nas will put out a classic like illmatic

Comment: Accepting the award for Hater of the Year: TheBALL!!! (to the sound of many boos and hisses). The message is straight. Like I said, the lyrics are always on point but the HOOKS and the Rappin' Bullsh... NOT on point. I will tell you what, If hate is "confused admiration" then I am trapped between a conundrum and an enigma and totally and completely cloaked by unsolvable riddles all while falling head over heels in love with THIS album... cuz I hate it! If its the message he wants to send then kill the soft as lotioned baby foot bottoms beats and give me something well produced by someone you KNOW you should lend your genius to. Matter of fact, quit HipHop and hit the spoken word circuit because guess what REAL HipHop heads want... you guessed it... HIPHOP!!! Imagine that. And skip the new Benzo or G6 or whatever RAP F@gs are sweating for vehicles, rims and whatever the phuk else and go shopping for a DJ for Pete's sake!!!!! I HATE Radio RAP. Just simply and honestly hate it.

Comment: This isn't a bad album and some really nice tracks on here (Lo-comotive, Daughters, The Don, Nasty, Reach Out plus more). Can't believe the stick Nas is getting for this on here from some. Seems like some people on this website will cheaply give 5 stars to some underground shit (that also happens to have singing hooks) and overhype it as a classic or "album of the year so far" but then give 1 star for Nas because he sold out after Illmatic and pissed those days will never return. Pure hypocrisy - Nas' material on here isn't a million miles off the stuff that Reks, Static and your beloved Mello Music Group is putting out. The album does lose its way halfway through (cue Summer on Smash) but the deluxe edition in particular gets on the rails later on. One star lost for not putting "Nasty" on the 2LP version.

Comment: first off, which track did large pro produce? He didnt produce any track on here. He was only a guest appearance. I think most of you are trapped in '94 thinking illmatic will resurrect again but thats not the case. Do you really think this album deserves a 1 star rating? Your basically comparing this to a lil wayne, drake or birdman cd and thats not even fair to this lyrical legend. I get that Nas should incorporate better production on his albums and I bet he gets beats from the best producers in the game but he is only going to pick what is suitable for the current project he is doing. This is why he is waiting to do the premo/nas album once he is done being handcuffed by defjams a & r heads. Why are people hating so bad on this album? I mean, I get it, Nas lyrics are dope and the beats arent tailored to most of you on here including me but dont hate on someone that is creating a vision in his mind. I dislike mainstream music and been a hip hop head since '88 but this cd is not that bad. Track 7 is crazy. Give the man some credit. Either way, I enjoy the convos on here so keep it coming. bigups!!

Plus Common and N.O ID fell off when Common lost his sense. Comment: "If you like lyrics and content maybe you should check out Nas's new joint. On the radio I heard..." (Errrrrrt) Stop RIGHT there... there is NO good HipHop on the radio! The fact IS I don't want it to sound like PAST works I WANT it to sound like NAS's work, not some BULLSHIT all teh execs at DefJam slapped togetehr with already shelved beats. The beast shoule be FOR him not from some catalogue. It's like walking into a tattoo shop and taking some BS off the wall or out of the "book o' tattoos". All the shit I design is ORIGINAL and belongs only to it's purchaser. No heart in this album. And yeah... Daughters sounds like a club banger... unfortunately I HATE club bangers!!! I have daughters only and it's whack. Hi slyrics still hit but he just ain't Nas anymore. Face THAT shit. I will always bring up ho wthe dude said HipHop is dead but WHO... in the PHUK is his DJ... WHio comes on stage when he rocks???? His phukkin dancers???? WHO man's his turntables????? The dopest joint on here is the one Large Pro did. It's not whack but its far from dope and I will NOT be buying or listening! Oh man and the background R&B??? I LOVE to hate that Hip ass radio jock BULLSHIT!!!! This is PHUCKING HIP HOP BITCHES!!!! Re SPECT!! Do NOT change with game!!! Be as loyal to your fans as we have been to YOU!!! I don't want another Illmatic. What I want is the old Nas. Make sense? I know some of you pussies don't get it. @Loudsmoka420 this IS Commercial rap dog... and guess what... YOU'RE a fan! The GOD should bow the fuck out the game... But the radio awaits you. Comment: First of all I am sure that even most of the read Headz in here would acknowledge that NaS regardless of what type of album he puts out is a straight legend. His lyrics cannot be matched underground or mainstream I dont care if you dont like dude its the truth. NaS is a master at word play if you disagree you know shit about hip hop. Now his production on this album is some of the worst. I will never understand somebody with so much lyrical talent would kill an album by hiring wack ass producers. Large Pro is the exception but come on NaS really what the hell were you thinking? This album could have been one of the best if only he would have pulled a Killer Mike and got a real producer somebody that actually knows music and has talent. Peace bitches!!!

Comment: Nas is Wack. He is afraid to have Craig G, Masta Ace or anyone Dope on here besides Large Pro because they would expose him for being a commercial artist just by flowing with him. I agree with some of these people on here. Sh!t like this and little wain shouldn't be on this site. We all love this site for being Underground not sell out. I admit it is fun clowning these geeks on here though. Nas was Dope on his 1st album, but every one after has been an attempt to be top 40.

Comment: Honestly, His lyrics are on point. They usually always are, people just can't overlook the beat choices. Its his best album in a while, lyrically. besides the justice league and the large professor track, I'm not feeling the beat choices. Can you imagine if premo, madlib, doom, el-p, rza, 9th wonder, alchemist and even monsta beats produced this album, it would be incredible. Nas HAS to get better production. Until then, remix it like the black album.

IMO this is his best effort in years. For whatever reason his lyrical ability fell off in the last decade but I think he really regained it on this one.

Comment: wtf are you idiots still listening to this clown for??? his first 2 albums were amazing then came the puff era and obviously our prophet (nas) was more interested in profits which led to his ultimate demise as a credible artist, even seeing this on ughhdotcom is offensive I would rather see a camron album or a fucking puff album on here. wtf is wrong with yall?? you cling to this dude like a bitter 40 year old clings to hope that krs will make his comeback album next year! fuckouttahere! in a sea of hip hop music thats has so many different outlooks and sounds why the fuck is nas still relevant? seriously do you say swag one a day? do you wake up at 10 am holler at chicks on facebook until noon then pass out in a weed coma? seriously get the fuck off this dudes dick he had 2 amazing albums but after that he was noting more than an image to be marketed to you all like a living version of the duets album is to sum up his career. this is UNDERGROUNDHIPHOPdotcom not fuckin dat piff or hip hop site!!!!!!!! yall have lost your damn minds even having this on the site. im offended that this is even available here we should just call it sometimesundergroundhiphopdotcom

Comment: everybody giving this less than 4 stars is a child, an underground hiphop wannabe or only listens to one genre. everybody else, knows what good music is about. understands that artists grow and can appreciate something different among the static out there. if you say nas rhymes wack, then you dont listen to music, you hear it and your point of view means nothing at all. this is serious progression from the only real spitta left in any sort of spotlight. go ahead, ask all those rappers you like including reef and blu who there favorite mc is. n.a.s. NAS!

Comment: This album is dope. People that are saying it's wack are buggin. The lyrics, topics and flow are unpararelled. Nas has grown up and allowed hip hop to grow up with him on this album. I don't know what Cats are looking for from him. I you wanna keep it gutta listen to Vinnie Paz or something, but for the people that want to hear good, solid and topical hip hop this is the album you've been waiting to hear for a long time.

Comment: I feel bad for this guy. I mean he used to be a legend, one of the most covitted Emcee's to touch the mic. Now hes selling himself short to keep money flowing... when I believe nas is barely scraping by money wise anyways. I still respect him though, somehows hes gotta make that bread and keep himself relevent. Im sorry, but this isnt very good, and there really wont be another album to even top some of his average albums. Life WAS good, those good times are gone and thats the sad part. Hip hop already sirfted and he followed that shift, I dont blame him. Keep livin man.

Comment: I give this album three stars and that's cause I listened to the Deluxe Edition. Without those tracks I drop this to a two star. I'm not hating on Nas and sayin he should hang it up cause of this album. He's a legend that just happened to put out a mediocre album. And it isn't even that bad. Some of the tracks the lyrics were nice but the beat was off and vice versa. The track The Don is insane with the beat by Heavy D. Nas needs to keep doing his thing which he will.

Comment: Nix the lame R&B tracks and the clumsy radio summer song and you still come up short on a rapper who is pressed to replicate the genius of Illmatic, or the creativity of Stillmatic. The three stars are for a man who has matured to squash beefs and patch up an ex lover. A mature album that reminisces the glorification of societal ills of the ghetto through a superb flow with decent beat production. Highs- Stay & Locomotion. Lows-Summer song with Miguel and Swizz Beats. Decent Has.

Comment: Okay I listened to the deluxe version in it's entirety last night straight through once. My initial response is it's good but no classic. I mean I'll go back and certainly listen all the way through several times to be fair but it sounded okay not great. There are some great songs but some real corny ones like Summer On Smash and some that just sound like filler tracks, not a fan of the R&B tone on some. I am a huge Nas fan so don't label me a hater just cause I am not bowing down and professing this to be the best thing in ages. Like I said it's a decent LP but I don't see myself getting it out and jammin' to it 20 years from now. Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes and Hip Hop is Dead all still get regular spins in my house.

Comment: I agree with "L.A area 51", NAS is certainly not wack but overrated for sure. Jay-Z is another rapper who is overrated. Also, people seem to forget what made "Illmatic" such a great album. The BEATS! People rarely mention the producers (Premo, Large Pro etc.) when talking about "Illmatic", but the truth is, it wouldn't have been a classic without those incredible beats and that's the truth.

Comment: I have heard songs from his last 3 or 4 and I bitterly disappointed. He hasn't been enjoyable able since "Take it in Blood". Be for real. ANYBODY that still thinks Nas rocks it and his beats are acceptable at ALL was born after '85... Helll, in the 80's PERIOD and HipHop was getting dope around your birth. Your entire experience is laced in gumdrops and bubble gum!!!! Nas was the truth and Jigga was hot and Bggie was alive. Never been to a Biggie show b/c you're too young to know when HipHop really did rock and lyricists wanted dirt and grime as their beats not satin and lace panties. Give me a fuckin' break.

Comment: I used to be a Nas fanatic. Nas' newer music is hit or miss to me. Mostly miss. This looks promising although so far i'm 50/50 on it from what i've heard. Nasty(not on album) and Locomotive sound great!!! The Don and rick ross track suck to me. Thats all ive heard. So its 50/50

Comment: Nas is dope! All you idiots hating on the GOAT need to STFU...people need to.grow the fuck up and stop trying to critique Nas based on bias opinions. If you don't appreciate Nas or even have an understanding about Salaam Remi or NO I.D. as producers why are you posting ignorant comments? Haters still stuck in 1994, believing gossip & spreading it & still talking about a decade old beef that no.longer exist. @thunder by Canada...I guess jay-z, Kanye & Common, as well as, John Legend are broke considering NO I.D. will be or has worked on their albums. You haters are so tuned into the gossip about that you fail to see reality. @reeality...Nas is not with L Boogie (another rumor). HATERS NEED TO STOP TRYING TO SUBJECT THEIR SHITTY LIVES ON NAS. Nas is the truth & some people are not capable of excepting the truth because they live in a perfect false world. Nas has 8 consecutive platinum albums, longevity and legendary status caee...HATERS STAY MAD!

Comment: What are you talking about? His last three or four albums have been great- political topics, hip hop topics, and subject oriented lyrics, with a ton of great production.

Comment: once again I am gonna be sadly disappointed when this shit drops. Surprised this n*gga didnt retire guess kelis took so much money from him so now he hires shitty producers like salaam remi and no i.d. to do 85 percent of the beats on this and then buckwild got a track which will prob be the best track on album. I think CORMEGA has been dropping better albums then this washed up n*gga for years and thats the truth!!!!Anybody wanna disagree with the hiphop god then go ahead but trust this album will be a 3.5 disapointment

Comment: My favorite MC all time until he sold his soul to the commercial demons of HipHop destruction and quiet ritualistic sound deadening pop burial. Killed me the way his lyrics had succombed to the sub par beats. Let's go NAS... do it or don't. Signed: Serious and Committed Hater of all things MainStream.

Comment: Excited for this, nas is back on that tip for me..,illmatic definately one of the best albums, most hip hop heads would argue between, illmatic, ready to die and thirty six chambers...Regardless Nas is now with Lauren Hill and they anticipate to do a project together...Nas and Lauren Hill? Are you fucked? YESN PLEASE

Comment: I've been peeping Nas for a while now and think that he is one of the best emcees out there especially with the storytelling. However, some of his albums were not up to par. Hopefully he gets some good production on this album and brings it back to the essence of hip hop. If not, we will all have to wait for the Nas & Premo album. @Dewopa, you are correct my dude. glad that someone did some homework on the matter instead of just blurting out stupid shit. bigups
