Show Description
It's been a while since Volume 2 and it's due time I got back to the grind with another show. This one's a little bit shorter, but includes more tracks that are again significant (in my opinion) to the path that has become underground hip-hop today. Everything from Big L's dope verse on "Enemy", to Paradigm's grad school infused style, M.F. DOOM's re-emergence, Siah and Yesh, Ugly Duckling's first joint, Planet Asia - it goes on. Have you noticed also that Godfather Don is on each volume so far? If you don't know, you better ask somebody… I also got a few inquiries asking about digital media and Serato, etc. I use Serato for most of my live shows, but each underground classics show is all vinyl.

Comment: shut the hell up t.j., they're both awesome dj's. rugged one you're ill too! Serato is a new way to spin music. if you're a good dj, you make it work. if you're a bad dj, you suck no matter what format you use. People say serato sucks because they associate it with lazy, hack djs. They are the problem. Who cares what format you use as long as the final product is dope (like this show)? Don't argue for musical integrity when you listen primarily to hip hop.

Comment: This show made me throw up in my mouth with excitement - but in a good way. You see, I had bacon for breakfast today and blueberry pancakes, and let me tell you how good half digested bacon mixed with stomach acid and syruppy blueberry digestion taste like. REAL GOOD, that's how. Kind of like this show. It's just as good the second time around. Plus, you don't get the high carb content of a hearty breakfast.

"DJ Tommee is the..." "DJ Tommee is known for..." hold up - "DJ Tommee arose from the ashes of..." ok - Trees asked me to include a bio for the radio show - and I'm not gonna post one of those fake-ass writing about myself in the third person self-indulgent bios that seem to be so popular now... If you haven't heard of me: I've been DJing live steadily for the last 14 years, and have done a little of just about everything - from winning DJ battles (Guitar Center, DMC regional, Zulu Nation, etc.), laying down studio scratch sessions for some of the most well-known underground artists, to making mixtapes and winning mixtape competitions, etc. etc. etc. - but I'm probably best known for the live events that I helped create and push over the last 9 years (Babysteps / Marinate). Along the way - I've been able to share the bill with most of the innovators who've influenced the art, and have also been able to play with a lot of relatively unknown cats who have since become stars. For the last 2 years - I've been holding down Fresh Produce each month with DJ Knife and the cats here at UGHH.com, which has been a huge success in Boston. I wanted to start this radio show to highlight a lot of the underground stuff from the mid to late 90's that doesn't get much burn anymore - and also bring back the turntablized mixtape skills that seem to be missing lately. Enjoy the show!
