    Summary

After putting out Beneficence's critically acclaimed "Sidewalk Science" album earlier this year, Ill Adrenaline Records is back to hit the hip-hop world with another throwback-sounding and classic release.

Rashad & Confidence, two longtime students of the game, finally drop their long-awaited debut album "The Element of Surprise". This up-and-coming MC/producer duo, hailing from Brooklyn and Philly, merged to create a record with a timeless sound reminiscent of hip-hop's golden era but with a fresh, updated feel. With no guest appearances or other producers involved, Rashad & Confidence embody the sound real hip-hop heads yearn to hear, going back to the times of Gang Starr and Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth.

The soulful hitting and sample-based boom bap beats courtesy of Confidence capture the pure essence of classic hip-hop production while Rashad's deep and conscious lyrics slice through each track with topics ranging from various life issues to relationships or just raw lyrical display.

Push the play button and get taken back to a time when hip-hop only produced classic albums.

Comment: Beats are a 4, rhymes a 1. Rashad's got the same montonous flow the entire album. Boring as hell and one of the most overrated album this decade.

Comment: After ALL the reviews I was like WOW this must be the next upcoming classic like a Black Moon's Enta Da Stage or something. This is purely basic back-pack rap for newer fans who don't have much time listening to hip-hop. Zero creative points, "keeping it real" lyrics are about as casual as back-ground music in the elevator. Just pure background music in a whole! Everybody giving this 5 stars must of never encountered underground vets' music , if THIS is impressive....

Comment: Ive been listening to hip-hop for the better part of 19 years now and seldom do you run into something that is a real def CLASSIC. This album is one of the few to me. The talent from both emcee and producer put out a 5 star gem.

Comment: In all seriousness hip hop, real hip hop even has its ups and downs..cats start hard and then turn pop within album release #2,3 and 4. Not going to mention any names because I got love for music but when I heard this album I was like yo, dis shit gots the simple recipe that most of you all rappers and I say rappers not underground or pop divas dont have. Well produced intricate soulful beats intertwined with the go getting in your face type smooth flow that we all love and respect. Much love to my brothas. Please do not be like all the rest of my heroes that start off raw and then all of a sudden get a lil change in their pocket and become WiLL I AM. Golden Era coming back! Please believe it. Support my brothas.

Comment: DOPE! DOPE! DOPE! And while this album is street, it isn't full of curse words and senseless violence. Just goes to show how many cats are cussing and fussing simply to get on; not too mention cussing and fussing due to a lack of SKILLS! I miss the days of mid-school sporting the walkman and rocking Finesse/Mike Swift tapes, so the album cover hat tip to "Funky Technician" is much appreciated. Looking for big things from these two...keep'em coming!

Comment: WOW! A TRUE classic! Best album of 2011. Hands down. Production is ill chopped samples with warm bass and knockin drums. Rhymes are vivid, original, hard and all clean! Unreal. Choruses are sharp. Scratches precise. It's a breath of fresh air from all the fluff they call hip-hop these days. This won't be leaving my stereo for a long time. Salute!
