Really everyone has there own opinion and that is their right! But when you listen to this album and say it's Okay then you should see the Source and XXL mags and you'll see the wack albums they give high ratings!!! @ Seanymac you didn't listen carefully to that track Kill 'em Reks raps that Dope emcees get no love until their dead so he is Killing 'em!! All the emcees he names drop are ones he considers to be ILL and to get them their deserved fame he is Killing 'Em it's a concept!! Listen to it don't skim that track it's a concept man!!! |

I have waited for another Reks album after Grey Hairs more than any other artist. That album was the jump off with all that Statik and Showoff blowing up. This album is as strong, or dare I say stronger, than Grey Hairs. It's just that after a super tight cd like Grey Hairs, it will take a minute for the new shit to grow on you. But trust me it will. This shit is AMAZING! |
Name: Yiorgo2K (Posted: 4/6/2011 2:24:00 PM; Partial IP: 183.26.166) Location: T Dot Comment: I remember when Reks dropped the chosen album not too many years ago, at the time I was just discovering the flourishing indy boston scene, and Reks was one of the stand outs in my opinion. Fast forward to Grey Hairs which really took me by surprise and grew on me the more I listened to it, so much that I traded my mp3 disc to the original pressing. So I was looking forward to this LP, maybe a little too much, dont get me wrong this is still a good album but not great status that the previous work is fitted. Although many comments here mention the production, I just didnt find the entire LP as a whole as fresh top to bottom as Grey Hairs. Lyrically Reks is on point with some great personal lines and killer battle darts, just some of the production seems a little off for his great rugged flow, the ALC joint is very hard for me to listen to but maybe thats just me. Primo, pete rock and of course statik just straight murdered it, hoped statik could of produced more tracks and replaced some of the soft keyboard beats on some tracks but I cant be too picky. With all my quibbles its still a good album with many positives, keep rekin it...! |

Reks works around the beats perfectly. It is beautifully mixed, mastered, and edited/arranged. All the producers bring out their best of the best. Better than any of his previous albums. Gorgeous guest spot singers and just enough guest emcees, coming in at only 4. Termanolgy spits fire with Reks on "Face Off" for one of the best dou tracks in years. Cop this ish. Hip hop's alive |

Name: Rizz (Posted: 3/7/2011 5:53:00 PM; Partial IP: .37.138.50) Location: MA Comment: I was a little let down by this one too. I had really high hopes tho after Grey Hairs and hearing "25th Hour" as the lead off single. I agree with AEOKQ as far as the beats go. The album kinda starts off strong and then fizzes out midway through. But then I thought "This Is Me" and "Mr. Nobody" picked it up a bit but then it kinda goes down again. Its not a bad album by any means and again, I had high hopes. I'd give this a 3.5 if that was an opinion. Its good but could have been great. |

Reks spits heat the entire album. The beats, however, do not keep up. Premier and Pete Rock start off with heat...then it gradually gets less bangin save a few cuts. I give this album a B-. |
