Yeah, I put this next to Aquemini, Like Water For Chocolate, Dangerous Connection and the likes. I pity myself as a collector of nearly 3k discs that I slept on it for a whole year. What keeps me coming back to this is the perfect balance of soulfulness ("Subliminal Themes", "Lie in Bed") and ruggedness ("Hustle and Grind", "Real in the Field") maintained throughout the project, all while bringing the proper musical atmosphere for each concept, all while keeping it street with them bust your ear open type beats of his. Nothing boring here guys. Dude's likeable too; not one verse annoyed me. No need for over-the-top similes and "Fuck y'all up 'cause I can" lyrics, Sean just seems to love H.E.R. too much to disrespect her or us. Do your ears & soul the favor of copping.
In The Heat of The Night's with yU is just magical by the way, peep the freshly released vid for it. Peace |
