    Summary

In a time where hip-hop appears to be in a similar recession that our economy is entrenched in, four emcees have banded together to form a rap supergroup like none other. All four emcees have had their fair share of major label love. All four have also been written off (with the exception of the Young Ortiz) after their label mishaps, only to rise like the phoenix and utilize the internet to build massive cult followings.

You probably know them individually, but this is about getting to know Slaughterhouse as a collective.

Joe budden was working on a song for his halfway house album and enlisted the services of Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5'9" for a song called "the Leak." The song was well received and because of the great chemistry the four had on the song they decided to form a rap super-group.

If you care about talent being brought back to the forefront of hip-hop, then you should care about Slaughterhouse. There are no gimmicks, no song with an accompanying dance, none of that. It's all about lyrical content. If that's what you value as a fan, that's what these four emcees give you.

Comment: Here's my take on the situation, which I'm certain you'll refute; it's not like I care. You listen to so called "classic albums" because it's safe, and reassesses the notion that you have "good taste." Must have taken you years to discover that Illmatic was a classic without help of the internet. Out of all the highly "coveted" albums you mentioned previously, not one is a modern release. Which, to me, is very amusing. Hell, even D-stroi called you on this, and he didn't like SH or OBFCL II. You then slap OBFLC II with a 5, even though, and this is based on the redundant argument you've made in regards to this album, it contradicts what defines a "classic release." I guess you flow with the river.

And what was that BS you were spewing about "I only listen toclassic albums"? What a fucking hypocrite. @ "yo jake", you dumb fucka, E1 was formerly known as Koch, and is considered the largest independent label out there. And clearly you didn't listen to one track on the album.

Comment: This album did not live up to the hype at all. The production on this is mediocre with a few good contributions from Focus, Alchemist, & Mr. Porter. All the MCs come off decent except for Joe Budden, I mean why is he even in the group he can't keep up with any of the other MCs on the mic. Overall this album sounds more like a mixtape rather than a full album.

Comment: i dont just throw out 5 stars for anything either, but if something is worth 3 stars then thats what ill give. I remember those days as well its timeless. I remember the first 2 cassette tapes I got were public enemy: a nation of millions, and x-clan: xodus and the 2 first cds I got tical, and most beautifullest thing in this world. that ish is timeless to me and was a golden era, but thats then and this is now. if you think lil wayne is the savior of hiphop then I dont want any part of that mess. its too watered down and no substance. at least for this cd (slaughterhouse) brought 4 emcees together and made a decent album. dont get me wrong lars, I understand where your coming from and I agree with you on a lot of topics and I know my stuff as well, but there is a lot of hiphop out there with tight material and decent production. its a new era like a boston red sox fitted ha

I don't get happy to get something on or before the release date...finally getting the album in my hands and reading all of the credits while I listen to the artist's latest offering. Playing the hell out of that album until I know every word line by line....those days are gone...and I refuse to give an album 5 STARS if I cannot get those butterflies again....many of you are grading on a curve...I will not do that as the bar has been set....Shyt still tastes shyt no matter how much sugar you put on it.

Comment: the more I hear the album the more it grows on me. I wouldnt go as far as saying album of the year cuz blaq poet & dj js-1 albums are better because they are consistent throughout. the slaughterhouse album isnt, but I will say that the slaughterhouse album has more highs than lows. Lars you are right about those classic albums and there isnt many cds now that can compare but if you look, there is a lot of hip hop since then that is worth buying. we cant live in the past and cant even bring it back. muscians can only make good music now and thats it. If it sucks then it is what it is, but just because that music isnt around anymore doesnt mean we should embrace "rap" artists such as lil wayne or fabulous because thats the only escape out. No, there are so many artists in the independent industry now that can produce quality music. I personally think that slug from atmosphere is one of the best writers out there today and consistently makes songs that make you think and visualize "emo" or not. He alone is more of a better product then say of the likes of lil wayne and these other so called artists just trying to make a buck and portray an image. Good music is out there Lars, just look for it

Comment: But whatever dude. You have fun returning daily to oversee this ablums decline, and giving this album a 1 star again and again and again; whilst under various alias'. All the while ranting and raving about old hip-hop albums. I'm sure Slaughterhouse will be devastated, and people will be persuaded not to buy the album-even though this site is obscure, and no one really gives a damn. Your pointless victory will be solidified in the annals of UGHH history. Yes, girls will come out the wood works to give you pussy. You're a winner!

Comment: Listened to most of those albums, and I still feel this album is a quality release. I should be asking you to get your ears checked, since you feel this album "inferior." Hell, why are you so concerned with this particular album anyway? What you mad because people actually enjoy albums that aren't 50 years old? I could give a rat's ass that you listen to old rap music. What does that have to do with this release? No one's comparing this shit to Illmatic. LMFAO! And I'd really be interested to see how many of those "independent" user reviews posted match your specific IP address. LOL!

Comment: Uhhh...If you look at the people who gave it 5 stars, many of them are the same person per their IP address. I have seen many unique IP's giving this release 3 stars. Thats all it deserves. It is marginal at best. Do me a favor..go listen to Criminal Minded, EPMD Business as Usual, It takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold us back, The Chronic, The Marshall Mathers LP, Illmatic, The Low End Theory, Breaking Atoms, De La Soul Is Dead, black moon enta da stage, raekwon only built for cuban link, big pun's capital punishment, gang starr's full clip, ready to die, all eyez on me, doggystyle, let the rhythm hit em, long live the kane, all for one, amerikkkas most wanted, n*ggaz for life, d.o.c. no one can do it better, southernplayalisticadillacmuzik...the list goes on...IF AFTER LISTENING TO ANY OF THESE ALBUMS AND YOU THINK SLAUGHTERHOUSE COMES WITHIN 3 STARS OF THESE 5 STAR CLASSICS, THEN YOU SHOULD GET YOUR EARS CHECKED!!! Because, based on what has been released in hip hop history. Slaughterhouse is 2 stars compared to these albums!!!

Comment: @ LARS? I need to to take the "dill bag" out of mouth? Bitch, you've piratically gargled the group's balls in your mouth by writing almost 20 reviews about this one album; all on one site! And what the hell is "publicv"? If you mean the public has decided the album sucks, you're wrong, since it has received near universal acclaim. And the only reason the user rating sucks on this site is because you wrote like 20 damn reviews giving it 1-2 stars. Who are you trying to convince, chump?

Comment: I wish UGHH would get rid of the user rating system. Half the fools who rated this ablum clearly didn't even bother to listen to it, or gave it a low score because of Joe Budden. And these fools have the audacity to wonder why true rap is dying. Hell, there's even one guy #LARS# who has reviewed the album five times.

Comment: top 20 comment below: I respect your opinion and even some of the emcees on your 20 comply. gza would definitely be on my list. I like stricklin but I think wordsworth is a better lyricist. why slug or j-live isnt on the list is a question or even talib kweli, mos def for that matter. I would even put evidence on this list. masta ace is dope and edo-g is a beast. rza?, brother ali is dope and buckshot is one of my favs. raekwon #3? we will see once only built part II comes out but #3 maybe pushing it. guilty simpson? black milk I would put over him. beanie sigel? immortal technique is a straight up problem, hes nice. we will see how well skyzoo does without a full 9th wonder producted album but skyzoo is fire. top list not sure tho. elzhi should be on your list above rza, not a mention. im a fan of phil da agony and the rest of the strong arm steady, but would put planet asia above him or even defari. pharoah monche, no beef there. chino xl can rip the mic but dont know if he has enough credability to be on a list. I would put canibus above him. phonte is a good choice, love little brother, and royce is a good lyricist. not a bad list. respect do. peace. p.s sean c is not happy with lars, you two need to relax and just talk music or review. one

All he is, is a image that the a & r's push to fulfill a new void to have a new popular "rap" artist to make money and for teenage girls to like the dude with all his tats and shirt off all the time glamouring up their myspace pages talking about being behind zanax bars and who he would like to fluck. his latest enstallment of a "song". talk about this dude on mtv or something and save the reviews and comments for the real emcees that everyone should support. peace peeps

I have been to Boston and all of it's wacky trolley cars that cris cross all over the place and more colleges than one could ever need. It is a wonder how someone like yourself could be from there and not go to college and get educated. You have more colleges than universities. Or maybe you are some dirtbag from Glouster where the place reeks of fish or was that smell I detected was your unwashed va-jay-jay? I am happy people here are being open minded and telling it liek it is when it comes to this half azzed release. OVER HYPED! Comment: googoo, I think they are giving a 1 star rating because they think its not worthy of 5 stars. im not sure I understand why you think thats hypocritical? I give it a three rating because im being fair and didnt even hear the album yet. and Lars, you may not be here to debate but your comments are going to cause people to debate with you either way. seems like almost every album that drops or is about to drop you give very critical reviews, and try to back it with saying that commercial(lil wayne)"rap" is the way to go because the golden era of hip hop is long gone. but I would have to respectively disagree and say that there is more than a handful of artists/albums that came out in the last 3 months that would make lil wayne and such artists retire. I respect everyones opinion, but if your on here constantly bagging on every review your gonna get back logged with people wondering why your the way you are. peace

Comment: i havent heard this album yet but I am a royce fan and see a lot of controversy on these reviews and people hating everyone. its quite humerous. everyone is entitled to their own opinions and also creates back and forth convo even if its controversial. and joell ortiz does have a solo joint that dropped 2 years ago I believe. but besides that just support the artists that you feel and let the opinions be opinions even if there not too your liking. Lars please dont bag on beantown, im from new england and take that ish serious. if it wasnt for boston and the hip hop that came out of the city then there would be a gap in the hip hop world period. as far as 4 to 5 star albums, ghostface fishscale was ok but had recycled doom beats if thats the album your talking about, dooms best album in my opinion was doomsday but not 5 stars, and maybe ill give you 4 stars for any of the little brother albums. big ups everyone

Comment: yall wanna block me but it is you guys who call me gay etc etc (you may be the gay one since you are on my jimbrowski 24/7)...simply hate retoric. Sean C gives Boston a bad name (you are probably some preppy stuff shirt from Brandeis U or a cross dresser at Wellesley College)....it is already known as being a racist northern city (even the cops get in on the act: arresting an old man with a cane for talkin about the pig's mamma..nnngga plzzz) I have every right to give my opinion on ughh..is ughh here just to take good reviews? I think not! I have given some good reviews but it is my bad ones that get the most attention. I am glad that I can generate debate about these topics because hip hop has become flawed and many of you need to take off the rose colored glasses and see that. Stop giving these garbage azz pro tooled albums with no direction 5 stars...you are disrespecting the true classics. There have only been a handful of 4 and 5 star albums post the year 2000. Ghostface, Doom, Little Brother have dropped some of those but those are few and far in between It used to be hard as hell to get 5 stars back in the day with less albums on the market, now with everyone and their mama with an album..it seems like there are TONS of classics every year...give me a break!!! I am forced by UGHH to give a rating everytime I post here but I refuse to give this album more than it deserves from me. Souls of Mischief can put together a better album than this...just because you have 4 lyrical mc's with punchlines all over an album, dose not make it good. After listening to this I can see why Crooked I has yet to drop an album..HE RHYMES OFF BEAT! You guys jump on Joey Budden, but that man is kinda nice. He is just ahead of his time. Joell needs a solo album...Royce is simply a bytch azz from the D. D12 should have done away with this fool on some street sh*t....

Comment: The ratings are all subjective. I dont think this album measures up to low end theory or most classic albums of the "golden age". But, like Joell Ortiz said " but the past wont let the torch go." As much as I love mid 90's hip hop we need to face it as fans of this culture we wont get back there as a whole culture. This is an excellent album for the period of hip hop we are in. For me it reminds me of why I fell in love with hip hop...straight lyricism. Is it a classic I dunno. Could it use more songs and more variety yes. But, it brings lyricism to the forefront and puts all these wack mainstream rappers on blast.

Comment: Personally I love the beats. I think that they hit hard and fit the album perfectly. My favorite track is with pharaoh on it. Buddens is weak on this album. I've heard his own shit and its better than what he does with slaughterhouse. I think Crooked I took the W on the album. Lyrics 8/10 Beats 9/10 Production 10/10 Flow 10/10 Variety 7/10 Overall 8.5 Definitely worth buying

Comment: This album was the most overrated joint of the year. I knew it would disappoint. There are many people here just thirsty for some sort of traditional hip hop album, but to be honest, for a so-called supergroup...this album disappoints. I guarentee this album will be forgotten years down the line. The beats were terrible. I am sure there are more up an coming producers who would have provided hotter sh*t for next to nothing. Joell Ortiz was the only person who was consistant on the album. Royce's bytch azz was lost in the sauce if you ask me. He stood out like a midget in the crowd. I have no idea why yall diss Joe Buddens so much, he is actually a solid MC. His Mood Muzik series is one of the best street release albus ever (especially Mood Musik #2). Just because this album has a typical hip hop format dose not make it good. It is marginal at best. 15 years ago it would most likely would have been not mentioned at all by hip hop heads as something to check for. I need something more to impress me. Sorry!

Comment: The Only Banger in this LP was Microphone, The One was good Radio Shit, Royce Kills in every song, but the problem of this album are the beats, Where's the Damn beats?? Crooked and Joell are Dope, Budden could be stop the fuckin drama and learn how to rap! Trifes Diesel's still the dopest release of the year in my opinion

This will satisfy what real Hip Hop heads been craving for so long. LARS, seriously do you have a life? Cyber sex done fucked you up a little too much? Comment: couple of things..the album is good but not a classic. lyrics are impressive, but the production could be better. joe budden needs to stay on the low key, cuz these wu tang nikkaz wouldnt mind murking his ass. Plus my nikka royce been drama free for a while. Thats good that royce hasnt opened up and said anything. Royce and crooked now they are the hottest mcs in the underground right now. So they smart not get involved in shit. I hope the album sells at least more than 100,000. Joe really needs to chill on this beef shit ..if he serious about slaughterhouse blowing up.

Comment: I am curious to see Swamprat's SAT score based on his last rant directed at my deceased mother. Swaprat is not worthy to lick the sweat from my vas deferens (google it you ignorant jerkoff). Winz..Joell is actually one of my favorite artists to date. Royce is a midget with a chip on his shoulder...he can rhyme but I hate his songs. I like Lil Wayne's songs 1000% times better than Royce. Can Royce write a hot 16 bars better than Wayne could ever think of in his Sizzurp, weeded-out, druken state? Y-E-S...can Royce make a song that I will remember more than Wayne's?...N-O! Lil Wayne just has style on the mic...Royce just thinks he's better than he really is. He acts like he is hip hop's best kept secret and if the world finds out about him, he would be in the top 5 alive catergory....sorry Royce...you will never be that dude! G Rap's old azz (he is top 5 all time based on his work in the mid 80's to early 90's)can BODY Royce in his sleep...

Comment: Aight first of all I'm not one of those internet dickriders that thought this group was the greatest group ever formed even before they dropped an album. Even after hearing the album its way too early top proclaim them the greatest group ever. They need to put in work and variety. With that being said I heard the album and they killed it. Not just battle hardcore lyricl tracks they got concepts too. I never skipped a track becuase you want to hear what each one says. I cant think of a better group out right now. This album deserves 5 mics but with probably only get 4. The only weak point to me is Joe Buddens he runs his mouth too much and is the weakest in the group. Which is too say hes still better than 95%of rappers. I can't think of another 4 rappers that could go head to head with them right now. Cop it its a must and a soon to be classic.

Comment: America loves LARS!!! Let's just get ready for the letdown. This album is going to be alot of hype and major disappointment. Aside from Joel Ortiz, none of these guys has what it takes to be a solo artist nor should they be in a group. The are just good enough to make a hot 16 on a mixtape and that's about it. Joel should not waste his time with these buffoons and move forward with his proper debut.

Comment: On the contrary "Real hip-whor time"...all of your "underground" artist are only getting money overseas because the US market dose not support them. All of these clowns have passports stamped the f**k up. Have you ever seen a passport in Buffalo? I hear less than 20% of americans owns a passport and only half of them actually use it. Maybe if you take a trip outside of snowy, loser-town Buffalo (hello Bills!! WIDE RIGHT!!!!LMAO!!!...even T.O. couldn't save ya), then maybe you will undrestand the dynamics of how your fave artists get their money. They get a fist full of $1's from mixtape DJ's to host wack mixtapes, they may get a few thousand to ghost write for Puffy and , from what I also heard NAS (hey Jay Electronica.I see you son!!), they may do a few dingy clubs in the USA for a couple thousand dollars, they owe their record company money (if they are even signed) because their first and second album sales were so low that they still have not recouped, so that leaves them having to do european tours where they get MAD love where in the USA they get none. Maybe you backpackers should start up a Paypal donation site to provide unemployment insurance for all of your failed rappers. After all...they got bills to pay and child support aint cheap!
